Driving change through practical research

Community Enterprise Research

We are passionate about supporting an enterprising community and third sector. To do this it is important that we understand the impact national and regional policies and strategies are having and that the initiatives we and the sector develop in response, are evidence based.

Community Enterprise is recognised nationally as a support agency that has been a “boots on the ground” organisation for over 35 years. This grassroots, listening and collaborative approach has helped us to uniquely learn from and understand communities, from rural to urban areas. As a result, we have had long lasting relationships and deep links, putting us in a strong position to conduct well developed and insightful research that will help the sector to respond to major changes. In this way we can strengthen communities and feed knowledge and information into policy makers to influence change.

Our research adopts an academic approach, which provides it with a solid foundation. This process ensures that any conclusions and recommendations are well supported and come from a robust background. Working with key partners we conduct research into targeted areas of interest. This has included national research into community asset ownership for the National Lottery Community Fund, new ways to finance building development with the William Grant Foundation and considering how to implement social prescribing positively for Scottish Communities for Health and Wellbeing across Scotland and Northern Ireland. We bring sensitivity to our research, working with local people and communities, co-producing evidenced results.
