Doon Valley Masterplan
Doon Valley – Help us design new outdoor, leisure and tourism facilities
East Ayrshire Council, along with key local partners, are currently developing the Doon Valley Masterplan – an ambitious project aiming to secure UK Government funding for the wider Doon Valley but with a focus of resources on the village of Dalmellington.
A masterplan for the Doon Valley will seek to connect local offerings of outdoor sport, leisure and tourism, and complement the new Doon Valley Community Campus and the new indoor sports facilities that are being proposed for the local area.

East Ayrshire Council recently commissioned a team of architects, engineers, and community development consultants to undertake more detailed community and technical research. An important part of this is a short ideas poll which will help us to prioritise key needs and priorities for Doon Valley to complement previous detailed consultation.
We are also running an online survey. Please do take a moment to add your ideas and see what others have said. Over the coming weeks, Community Enterprise and Norr Architects will be visiting the local area and hosting a range of events – please do come along and speak with us!
More about the masterplan
Potential projects which need to be considered include:
- Re-opening of the Doon Valley Museum – with new Gateway centre encouraging access to outdoor facilities in the Doon Valley.
- Explore potential for new outdoor Activity Centre in Doon Valley.
- Enhance Doon Valley Community Campus, pavilion and pitches and improve connections to other local leisure facilities.
- Improvements to local spaces, streets, and historic Dalmellington town centre.
- Development of green spaces and ‘green corridors’ across the local area.
We need local people, groups, and businesses to tell us what this Masterplan should prioritise.
