Randori Dojo

Dalkeith

If there were awards for community effort to ‘build back better’ during recent uncertainties, Randori Dojo in Dalkeith must be a front runner.  This community focussed Club seized the opportunity to find a permanent home during the summer and opened its doors earlier this month.  With the help of members, friends and families a building which should have cost £160K+ and 6-12 month to refurbish instead cost £40K and took just 3 months.  The resulting space is a triumph with not a single corner cut. Fully Covid compliant with colour coded ‘bubble’ mats and other safety measures throughout, the Club has begun to welcome back its eager members.  Mark Taylor, founder of the Dojo cited an extraordinary network of helpers and experts, securing free or cost price services and equipment and a good dose of ingenuity and innovation for the success.  Who knew you could create a sprung floor with swimming noodles..?
