Aberdalgie & Forteviot Church serves a traditionally rural parish to the Southwest of Perth, which is expanding due to the construction of new housing.
The Church has been responding to these rapidly changing demographics by establishing the ‘Green Shoots’ community and learning centre. This is a garden and community green space hosting activities to address social isolation, support skills development, improve health and wellbeing and place the church building at the centre of community life.
The project has grown beyond the point where it can be delivered solely on a volunteer basis, and we supported the Church with an options appraisal on different models for recruitment of a new worker. We also undertook detailed case studies on similar projects to inform the development of a new staffing structure.
"We thank the Accelerate Programme for providing us with a crucial business analysis service which was outwith the skills and experience of our project team. They acted as a 'critical friend' in challenging our initial assumptions and helped guide us to re-examine some key areas of our aims and objectives. Using an independent service such as that provided by Accelerate, should be considered by all organisations seeking to add quality and energy to their project proposals."
