The challenge
Church of Scotland Uig had an ambitious plan involving five complementary projects – including development of holiday accommodation, a community growing project, and support for older people in the community.
Collectively, the projects could support the Church’s sustainability, help to deliver the Church of Scotland’s Five Marks of Mission, and provide practical help to address material needs and challenges faced locally. However, the church needed some support in making this happen.
How we helped
Through Accelerate, we helped the Church establish its Hope and Wellbeing Hub within its Parish at Uig Bay.
This included the development of an action plan to take the projects forward, as well as guidance on governance and income generation within Church of Scotland structures.
The result
New service developed, strengthening long-term sustainability
Practical aid and social programmes are tackling social isolation, mental health challenges and cost-of-living pressures faced by the community
Thanks to Accelerate, the Hope and Wellbeing Hub has progressed and is thriving.
With the action plan that we helped develop, the Hub has played a vital role within the local community in tackling social isolation, mental health challenges, and the cost-of-living crisis by offering practical aid and social programmes.
