The challenge
Skilz Academy is committed to improving health and well-being, developing life skills, improving opportunity, and building stronger communities through sport. To achieve this aim, it sought to develop a community facility and changing rooms adjacent to their astroturf in Arbroath.
How we helped
We worked with Skilz Academy to gather the necessary information to write a business plan for the project.
This involved assisting the group with community consultation, market research, concept designs for the building, operation and income ideas, marketing and promotion and a cash flow analysis.
The result
Lease secured for community use
Increased sports provision, social benefits and opportunity for the local community
The strong business plan helped Skilz Academy in its ongoing negotiations with Angus Council - resulting in the securing of a 99-year-lease.
The Arbroath Community Astro is now open and looking forward to supporting local sports teams, community groups, and schools from across Arbroath.
