Fife Employment Access Trust
Helping secure National Heritage funding to develop a large scale social enterprise hub in Fife
"Community Enterprise went well above and beyond for us time and time again. Fantastic service provided, I had high expectations from the outset, but these were exceeded and I have already recommended them to many other organisations seeking support in a variety of areas."
- Fife Employment Access Trust (FEAT)
The challenge
FEAT is an award winning charity which provides employability support to people experiencing long term and complex mental health issues.
They wanted to develop a historic but derelict flax mill into a social enterprise hub, housing a cafe, shop, hostel, workshop space and campsite. The aim was to provide training and employment opportunities for service users and generate an income for the charity.
How we helped
With funding from the Heritage Lottery, we worked with them to develop a business plan and development appraisal to secure capital and revenue funding.
The result
£3,476,000 awarded from National Lottery Heritage Trust
Regeneration of the historic Silverburn Flax Mill for local benefit
Regeneration of local economy
Increased social benefits and opportunity for the local community
With our support, FEAT was successful in securing one of the largest National Heritage Lottery grants awarded in Scotland.
The funds have been used to further develop the ‘Silverburn Flax Mill’ which, when renovation is complete, will offer a café and restaurant, arts and crafts studios, gift shop, event spaces, accommodation and more.
