Developing a business plan and supporting a successful application to the Scottish Land Fund
“Community Enterprise went out of their way to help us with our project in every way possible and delivered outstanding reports that we are confident will help us to succeed."

The challenge
Dunoon Community Shed had been at the heart of the community and on the go for a number of years, but recent rental increases put them at risk of closure. Instead, they looked at the possibility of buying their space - a former ceramics factory in the town.
How we helped
After some number crunching, a full community consultation and lots of learning from elsewhere, we put together a business plan, and the Shed has used this to submit an application to the Scottish Land Fund to help secure their future.
The result
£153,000 awarded from the Scottish Land Fund
Asset brought into community ownership
Regeneration of local economy
Increased social benefits and opportunity for the local community
Thanks to the support from Accelerate, Dunoon Community Shed submitted their application and received a £153,000 grant from the Scottish Land Fund in March 2023.
This enabled them to buy and secure their permanent home in a former ceramics factory, and protected a vital community hub from closure due to rising rental costs.
