Comrie Development Trust
Operational planning, governance review and trading opportunities to support the long-term sustainability of Comrie Development Trust
“Community Enterprise helped us make important business decisions about the way forward for us as a trust. The service was highly professional and focused. It felt like time was taken to understand our particular needs, and we really benefited from our engagement with our consultant".

The challenge
Comrie Development Trust (CDT) is a community-led organisation in rural Perthshire, working to create lasting benefits for local people. The Trust owns Cultybraggan Camp, a former Second World War prisoner-of-war camp that has been transformed into a thriving community asset.
Today, the site offers a range of facilities and opportunities, including a community allotment and orchard, a visitor centre, workspaces for local businesses, and self-catering accommodation in refurbished Nissen huts.
With a diverse range of activities and opportunities to manage, CDT wanted to review its operations and explore how it could continue to develop as a sustainable organisation, while maximising the benefits it brings to the local community.
How we helped
Through Just Enterprise, we worked with CDT to support its operational planning and help the Trust consider its future direction.
The support focused on reviewing the Trust’s constitution and governance arrangements, alongside exploring trading opportunities that could contribute to its long-term sustainability.
Working closely with CDT, consultant Andrew Rogers took the time to understand the organisation’s specific circumstances and needs, providing focused, professional support to help inform important business decisions.
The result
Greater clarity around governance, operations and future opportunities
Regeneration of local economy
Increased social benefits and opportunity for the local community
The support helped CDT review its organisational foundations and explore opportunities to strengthen its future sustainability.
By considering its governance arrangements and potential trading activities, the Trust was better equipped to make informed decisions about the way forward and continue building on the community benefits created at Cultybraggan Camp.
