Feasibility study and business plan to support community ownership
"Community Enterprise was more than helpful throughout the process,
and we thoroughly recommend them to other interested groups."
- Auchtertool Community Trust
The challenge
The Auchtertool Community Trust (ACT) was set up in 2017 to manage the Community Benefit payment from Clentrie Windfarm. The trust saw an opportunity for community ownership when former restaurant and bar, The Teil, was up for sale.
As a result, the ACT required support to develop a feasibility study and business plan for a Stage 2 application for the Scottish Land Fund.
How we helped
We conducted extensive research and community consultation to produce a feasibility study before moving on to the development of a business plan to support a Stage 2 bid to the Scottish Land Fund to acquire the asset.
We also supported the Trust to think through their options for governance and management of the asset.
The result
Scottish Land Fund award secured
Asset brought into community ownership
With support from us, Auchtertool Community Trust were successful in securing funds from the Scottish Land Fund and completed the purchase of The Teil in April 2025.
